1882
The First Baptist Church of Pearsall, Texas was organized in 1882 under the leadership of Reverend W.D. Johnson. There was at the time six male members and six female. They were Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Cox, Mr. and Mrs. R.G. Long, Mr. and Mrs. E. Finck, Mr. and Mrs. Quail Johnson, Mrs. Jim Davis, Mrs. Annie Earnest and two other male members whose names are not available.
The first services were held under a brush arbor until the first building was completed on a lot donated by the I.G.N. Railroad which is now occupied by the Clay Coker home on East Colorado Street.
Three weddings solemnized of Miss Flora Hess to Mr. Walter Trickey, Miss Lyda Twiford to Mr. Ed Roberts, and Miss Ida Twiford toMr. Magus Smith. They were celebrated in the year of 1893.
In 1896 a new church was built on the present location, 204 East San Marcos, Rev. Starrott being the pastor. The baptistry and the bell were moved from the old building to the new building. This same bell is presently being used. However, for several years the old bell was silent, some thinking it was too old fashioned to ring a church bell.

We still have that old bell here at the church. We are a people still on mission over 140 years later at FBC Pearsall. We exist to glorify God by loving people and living out the transformational hope of Jesus Christ. Our atmosphere is casual and friendly. At First Baptist Pearsall you will hear the uncompromising message of Jesus Christ and his Gospel preached. We hope you would find a loving community here. We hope your relationships would be strengthened here. And yet, if all that is accomplished and you don’t encounter Jesus, then we haven’t done what we’re called to do as his church. We know that true life change, true purpose and true fulfillment are only found in Christ. Our primary goal at every gathering, whether it be Sunday Morning, Midweek, or a Bible Study, is for you to know Jesus and to grow deep in your relationship with him.
