First, you must acknowledge that you have sinned.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Second, you must believe that Jesus died to forgive you of all of your sins.
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Finally, you just need to pray to God. Praying is simply talking to God just like you would with any other person.
Tell God that you realize that you are a sinner and you need his gift of grace. Tell Him that you believe that Jesus is the son of God and that his death and resurrection paid the price for your sin. Finally ask Him to save you from your sin and give you freedom in the name of Jesus Christ.
Then simply say thank you.
Salvation is the free gift that God gives to us. He gives us this gift by His grace. Grace means that we receive what we do not deserve. Sin has kept you from having the relationship with God that He wants to have with you. The Bible teaches that you can never make up for your sin by self-improvement or doing enough good things. The only way anyone can be saved from sin's penalty is by personally trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness and salvation through His death and resurrection. The penalty of death is eternal separation from God in everlasting punishment. When you turn from your self-ruled sinful life and turn in faith to Jesus, you are saved. Eternal life begins the moment you receive Jesus Christ into your life.
It is the most important decision you will ever make.
